This apprenticeship insight event introduces BAE Systems, engineering and our early careers programmes. This is a hybrid event delivered over four sessions, with two sessions online and two sessions on-site at various locations across the UK.
What to expect:
- An insight into BAE Systems, who we are and what we do
- Gain hands on experience in engineering skills
- Visit us on site and see what life is like as an engineer
- Meet current engineering apprentices and hear about their experiences
As part of the insight experience, you will have the opportunity to interview for one of our 2026 engineering apprenticeships and could be offered a full-time position.
Hear from previous participants:
“During the Women in Engineering event I was able to gain a better insight of the engineering function and this experience helped improve my interpersonal and problem solving skills which are skills I now use daily on my apprenticeship.”
“Throughout the course, I was able to gain further insight and experience into the engineering world. Hearing from apprentices from across the business was very nice as it gave a real look into how far you can get; how vast the opportunities are and hear very relevant things about job roles available.”
About engineering at BAE Systems
Our engineers directly and in-directly support the manufacture of complex products such as submarines, surface naval ships, munitions, or aircraft. There are several disciplines to choose from including engineering technician, mechanical fitter, welder, fabricator and machinist.
What does an apprenticeship involve?
Engineering apprenticeships generally take between two and four years to complete. You’ll spend the first year in full-time training, learning core skills, before moving onto a site placement within one of our specialist engineering teams. You’ll have real responsibility on real-life projects, learning from those around you and fast-tracking your skills.
If you are currently completing an NPA programme with BAE Systems, you are not eligible to apply for Women in Engineering 2026.
This opportunity is aimed primarily at female candidates seeking insight into a career in engineering.
Please note: Applications may close early if sufficient applications are received. We are unable to reimburse travel and expenses for attending the programme.
