From day one, I was trusted with meaningful responsibility while receiving structured training, mentoring and regular development reviews - whether that was at the training school or on site. This balance of hands-on experience and learning helped me build strong technical skills and a clear understanding of how BAE Systems operates as a business. Knowing that my work contributes to pioneering projects that protect people, communities and national security makes what I do feel purposeful.
One of the things I’ve valued most is the early careers network. Being surrounded by people at a similar stage in their careers has helped me learn from others, build strong professional relationships and feel part of a wider community. Seeing the real impact of my work and feeling genuinely valued within my team has been incredibly motivating.
A standout experience for me was attending Outward Bound. Spending time with the people I’d be working alongside throughout my apprenticeship helped strengthen our relationships and pushed me out of my comfort zone. It boosted my confidence and encouraged me to step forward for new opportunities.
