I joined the graduate scheme in Naval Ships and was given the opportunity to move across functions and business areas, experiencing first-hand how procurement underpins the build and sustainment of complex platforms. From supply chain transformation to working on Typhoon production, spares and repairs, each placement stretched me in new ways. I was trusted with meaningful work and encouraged to contribute ideas, not just observe.
What stood out most was the support. If I was passionate about something, the answer was always yes. I was enrolled onto CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), supported to attend senior management conferences and guided towards my MCIPS qualification - one of the proudest achievements of my career. BAE Systems didn’t just help me grow professionally, it gave me the confidence to pioneer my own path.
After some time away, including a move to Canada, I chose to return. I missed working for a company that valued me not only as an employee but as a person. Now as a first-time mum, that support matters even more. My team understands that life and work evolve. When my son needs me, I feel completely comfortable asking for flexibility. In return, I bring my full focus, energy and commitment to protecting programme delivery and strengthening supplier performance.
