What we do in Australia

BAE Systems Australia delivers intelligent, capable and available assets to the Royal Australian Navy.

Our people in Australia work alongside the Government, industry, trusted suppliers and academia to offer a whole-of-lifecycle maritime capability. This capability advances and safeguards Australia’s security and economic interests by leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies and complex engineering expertise. Located in every mainland state, our people are responsible for the sustainment of the Royal Australian Navy’s military assets.

We are responsible for the design and build of one of the world’s most advanced anti-submarine warships at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia. The Hunter class frigates will provide the Royal Australian Navy with critical capability to help protect the nation for decades to come. Hunter is more than just building ships; it is about growing an enduring and uniquely Australian sovereign industrial capability that supports continuous naval shipbuilding for future generations.

We are also playing a critical role in the Commonwealth’s Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) program. This program is delivering significant upgrades to Australia’s three Hobart class destroyers.
