The Hydrographic In-Service Support (HISS) program delivers engineering, maintenance supply and training services in support of the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Hydrographic Fleet of Vessels for the Hydrographic System Program Office (HSPO).
The Hydrographic Fleet of Vessels provide services to and collect data for the Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) and the Deployable Geospatial Survey Team (DGST), to ensure Australia's obligations under the SOLAS convention and the national interest (which enable safe navigation, maritime trade and supporting protection of the marine environment), can be met.
Under the Hydrographic In-Service Support (HISS) program, BAE Systems Australia provides management of engineering, engineering change, configuration management, technical risk & maintenance management and training, warehouse and supply support services. BAE Systems also conducts the forecasting, planning and production management of all maintenance requirements (excluding organic maintenance) for the Leeuwin Class Hydrographic Ship (HS), the Fantome Class Survey Motor Boat (SMB), the Paluma Class Survey Motor Launch (SML), and the Antarctic Survey Vessel (ASV).
Since 2008, BAE Systems Australia has been in contract with the Commonwealth to support the Hydrographic Fleet of Vessels, with the current contract ending in December 2020.
