We believe in strong and resilient supplier relationships, which are critical in allowing us to meet our customer’s expectations.
BAE Systems Hägglunds is part of the Global BAE Systems that spend more than £10 billion a year with 25,000 suppliers around the world.
We buy a wide range of major equipment, services, materials and components such as steel, engines, protection systems that contribute to our products and services for our customers. Routine goods and services to support our business include office supplies, facility maintenance, training, IT and consultancy services.
Supplier management is important to BAE Systems Hägglunds because we depend on our suppliers to help us to deliver the products, systems and services that our customers need, on time and to the quality they expect. Poor performance or unethical conduct by a supplier could affect our reputation or even our ability to operate effectively.
Sustainable Procurement
We want all our suppliers to reduce the environmental impact of the products and services they supply to us, which in return helps us to reduce our own environmental footprint and that of our products.
Supplier Standards
BAE Systems Hägglunds expect our suppliers to comply with local legislation and to meet the same or equivalent standards as BAE Systems on issues ranging from ethical conduct to health and safety and apply those standards in their own supply chains.
We comply with arms and export control regimes without exception - It is necessary for our ability to continue doing business as a world class company. You, as a supplier to BAE System Hägglunds, play an integral role and are expected to conduct your business in accordance with export control laws, regulations and authorizations, worldwide.
Ethics
To clarify what we expect from our suppliers and their supply chains, we have developed the Supplier Principles – Guidance for Responsible Business, which reflects the standards we set for our own Board and employees.
The Principles outline a set of ‘best practice’ expectations, based on our own global Code of Conduct, The United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, International Labour Organisation Conventions and national laws and regulations that apply to businesses. They also incorporate information included within IFBEC’s Supply Chain Code of Conduct.
The expectations within these Principles are not intended to conflict with, or modify the terms of existing supplier contracts with BAE Systems. If a contract requirement addresses the same areas as covered in these Principles, suppliers must comply with the contract (and/or) legal requirements.
Selecting and Managing Suppliers
When selecting suppliers our due diligence process includes desktop research, supplier questionnaires and, in some cases site visits to assess and ensure standards are consistent with our expectations.
All suppliers are encouraged to comply with our Code of Conduct or equivalent standards, but for major sub-contractors our due diligence process is more extensive.
As a supplier to BAE Systems Hägglunds you are expected to add value and contribute by being:
Trusted – deliver the right quality at the right time at the right place
Innovative – come up with new solutions in terms of product and service performance, contractual terms and technical solutions.
Bold – dare to challenge conventions, traditions and BAE Systems Hägglunds proposed solutions
After selection, we continue to engage with major sub-contractors at all stages of the project lifecycle from planning through to completion.
Business Continuity
We also conduct business continuity assessments and planning with key suppliers to identify and mitigate risks, such as fires and floods, as well as supplier vulnerability assessments and ensure key suppliers can continue to deliver essential products and services.
BAE Systems Hägglunds and its suppliers are obligated to comply at all times with the legal requirements for export control.
You, as a BAE Systems Hägglunds supplier must conduct business in strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing the export, re-export and retransfer of goods, technical data, software and services.
BAE Systems Hägglunds expects our suppliers to maintain a high level of export control and foreign trade data in a professional and timely manner.
The following information is required from BAE Systems Hägglund’s suppliers.
- Provide export control certificates for each export controlled deliverable, including codes from sub-tier suppliers for all export controlled content. These codes are used to clearly identify whether your deliverables are export controlled and by which countries.
- If end use or user assurances or certifications are required, provide the templates published by the relevant authorities.
- Provide copies on any applicable authorizations and exemptions/exceptions.
- Mark all information (documents etc) and software (media carriers etc) as “export controlled” or “not export controlled” and all ITAR controlled documents when applicable.
- Upon delivery provide export control metadata such as making reference ( a coverletter is sufficient) to all applicable export control codes, jurisdictions and the applicable authorizations or exemptions for all deliverables.
If no information as per above is provided by you as supplier and a violation of any applicable export control legislation subsequently occurs, BAE Systems Hägglunds will hold you liable in the event that your deliverables are ultimately disclosed or sent to proscribed countries to proscribed recipients. The implications for you may be significant in terms of fines (or worse) imposed by the relevant authorities.
Industrial Cooperation - Supporting Suppliers
We at BAE Systems Hägglunds have 80-90% of our sales on export where industrial cooperation and offset are a natural part of our business. We continuously search for suppliers in our customer countries to fulfill our customer expectation and widen our supply chain.
We are committed to play an important role in promoting skills and innovation through our international supply chain and helping our suppliers to strengthen their businesses in Sweden and internationally.
BAE Systems Hägglunds values a well-functioning Supply Chain to support the delivery of the highest possible value to our Customers.
We expect our suppliers to comply with local legislation and to meet the same or equivalent standards as BAE Systems Hägglunds on issues ranging from quality, ethical conduct to health and safety and apply those standards in their own supply chains.
We assess compliance during the supplier selection process and at regular intervals for high-risk suppliers. If we identify any issues or gaps in their approach, we try to work with our suppliers to improve their standards. In the unlikely event that a supplier is unable to improve their performance, we have the option of terminating their contract and preventing them from participating in future tenders.
Protecting the environment and the human health is a core value and BAE Systems Hägglunds operations shall be conducted in such a way that applicable safety, health, and environmental legislation and other relevant requirements are met, and that pollution is prevented.
This includes the appropriate consideration of the management of safety, health, and environmental impacts in the design, procurement, manufacture, maintenance, support and disposal of our products.
Subsystems and components are developed and manufactured by suppliers and therefore our suppliers’ safety, health, and environmental efforts are of importance to enable BAE Systems Hägglunds to fulfill its responsibility to customers and authorities.
Supplier Cyber Security Process
We believe in strong and resilient supplier relationships, which are critical in allowing us to meet our customer’s expectations.
Cyber-attacks are a serious threat to the security and economic well-being of all companies and companies working in the aerospace and defence sector are at heightened risk of an attack due to the nature of the information that they hold.
BAE Systems is launching a Supplier Cyber Security process to help us understand cyber risk, raise awareness and develop proportionate and effective cyber defences across our supply base.
We need you to complete a Cyber Security Supplier Questionnaire. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The Supplier Questionnaire and an explanation of the process in the form of a list of Frequently Asked Questions and a leaflet can be found on this website. Please note that information about your organisation collected during the process will be treated in strict confidence and will not be shared outside BAE Systems.
Any feedback you have regarding the Supplier Cyber Security process can be provided directly to us at any point throughout the activity.
