Since 1976 the Prince's Trust has helped more than 600,000 young people through practical and financial support aimed at developing key workplace skills. Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. The Prince's Trust works with these youths who may have struggled with school, been in care, been in trouble with the law or are long-term unemployed. Their success rate is impressive.
BAE Systems has a three year (2010-2012) partnership with the Prince’s Trust to help provide young unemployed people with the skills to find their first job. We directly support our local communities through the Trust’s ‘Team Programme’ in Barrow, Glasgow, Preston and Portsmouth.
In addition to funding we provide practical support. We are piloting work experience placements for the Trust’s trainees at our maritime apprentice training facility in Portsmouth.
Our apprentices also volunteer with the Trust’s Team Programme. It is a valuable development opportunity and also incredibly rewarding for our apprentices to help other young people by acting as role models.
