Next-level protection against radio frequency (RF) missile threats, now and in the future.
Missile threats are growing in quantity and sophistication, posing a real danger to our warfighters in the skies. In response to these rapid changes, we’ve developed flexible and reliable solutions to give warfighters the upper hand. BAE Systems’ Dual Band Decoy is a cutting-edge RF self-protection jammer that shields fighter jets from enemy attacks.
How does it work?
Dual Band Decoy delivers advanced protection by providing capabilities that use multiple frequency bands. Leveraging the latest in gallium nitride technology, our decoy jams signals with a high-powered response from off-board the aircraft at the end of a towline. This directs incoming missiles away from the host aircraft and toward the decoy. Where traditional straight-through repeaters are only effective against some threats, our towed decoy works jointly with an onboard electronic warfare (EW) system to apply an array of countermeasure techniques. Through this combination, the system can attract, suppress, and counter the most sophisticated modern threats.
Blazing a new trail
Our Dual Band Decoy covers multiple bands of the RF spectrum. With that kind of protection, it is one of the most advanced RF countermeasures in the world. The Dual Band Decoy system has a stand-alone capability that enables users to add protection without making significant platform changes.
Reliable? Check. Future proofed? Check.
Pilots and crews operating in an ever-changing battlespace need to have the utmost confidence in the reliability of their countermeasure system. That’s why we built our decoy to deliver highly reliable jamming, while maintaining compact size and weight to ensure a smaller footprint for maximum efficiency. Designed with the user in mind, the system is backward compatible and modular for easy updates now and into the future. This design enables the system to maintain low life cycle manufacturing costs.
