Legacy Centenary Torch Relay

BAE Systems Australia will stand, walk and run alongside Legacy as the organisation celebrates 100 years of support to the families of those who have served and sacrificed.
 
We are supporting the relay as a foundation partner and members of our veteran community have been selected as torch bearers for certain parts of the tour.
Beginning in Pozières, France in the lead up to Anzac Day, the centenary torch will travel around the world, stopping at all 45 Legacy clubs worldwide. The torch relay will cover every state and territory in Australia.
 

We have torch bearers involved in the following stages of the relay.

  • France / London - Friday 28 April
  • Fremantle - Friday 5 May
  • Adelaide central - Friday 12 May
  • Cairns - Wednesday 24 May
  • Newcastle central - Tuesday 13 July
  • Sydney central - Monday 19 July
  • Canberra central - Monday 28 August
  • Melbourne central - Thursday 12 October

Carlos


Twelve years' of military service in the US Navy as an engineer on aircraft carriers USS Nimitz and USS Kitty Hawk, and as a Special Boat Training Unit instructor/advisor.
 
 

Jonathan

 
Served in the Royal Australian Navy for six years in naval stores logistics.
 
 

Edward

 
Served in the Royal Australian Air Force for 12 years as an avionics technician.
 
 

Berni

 
Achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel during more than 30 years of service in the Australian Army.
 
 

Jeremy

 
Served as an officer in the Australian Army for 14 years and continues to serve in a reservist capacity.
 
 

Raymond

 
Raymond’s father was a WWII veteran who passed away in 1976. Raymond became a Legacy Ward at the age of 11 attending many camps and events, eventually becoming a Leader and 'Legatee' helping the widows of other veterans.
 
 

Tia


Served in the Royal Australian Navy for 14 years working in logistics and stores.
 
 

Drew

 
Drew spent 30 years in the British Army and four years in the Australian Army, encompassing 22 postings and 11 operational tours.
 
 

David

 
Served more than 27 years in the Royal Australian Air Force as a technician and engineering officer supporting fast jet operations.
 
 

Jason

 
Served in the Australian Army for more than 15 years in both a full-time and part-time capacity as an musician.
 
 

Bianca

 
Served in the Royal Australian Navy for six years in the maritime logistics supply chain.
 
 

Tyrone


Served in the Royal Australian Navy for 10 years as a marine technician.
 
 

Mat

 
Served in the Australian Army for 13 years as a major in the artillery corps. 
 

Laurie


Served in the Royal Australian Navy as both a sailor and an officer for 25 years.  
 

Lane


Served full-time for more than eight years in the army infantry and continued part-time for an additional two years.
