BAE Systems is a leading employer of defence force veterans and was most recently recognised as winner of the Prime Minister’s Veteran Employer of the Year awards – large employer Category. About 10% of the company’s 5000 employees are former Australian Defence Force recruits.
As part of the WYWM partnership, veterans will register interest via a jobs accelerator and assessment event being held in early November through WithYouWithMe. Applicants will be selected by their character traits, skills and potential rather than previous work experience.
The 10 successful applicants will complete a 12-week program that consists of on boarding, transition and a comprehensive re-skilling phase. Once complete, the squad will be deployed to BAE Systems for 12 months, where they will continue to learn on the job.
Positions are available to applicants in South Australia and Victoria working across information technology disciplines such as Service Desk, Cyber Security, Systems Admin, Database Admin, Network Engineering and Application Specialist fields.

Earlier this year, BAE Systems Australia launched STEM Returners, a program that specialises in placing people with STEM skills who have had career breaks in 12-week internships.
BAE Systems was the first defence company in Australia to partner with STEM Returners as part of its national recruitment strategy.
Since the launch, four STEM trained interns have been placed within defence programs in Adelaide and Melbourne, with a further two being recruited, potential job offers to be made at the end of this year.
