If you joined before April 2012, and joined a pension scheme, you will be a member of one of the following defined benefit (DB) pension schemes.

Aptia & OneView

Aptia is the administrator of the BAE Systems DB pension schemes. If you have any queries about your DB pension please contact Aptia using the details on the Contact Us page.

All DB members have access to Aptia's secure online website, OneView, where you can:

  • View the current value of your benefits and use the retirement illustrator to produce quotes* to help you plan for your retirement
  • Run an instant (non-guaranteed) transfer value quote*
  • Update your nomination of beneficiaries
  • Access to a copy of your Member Booklet, annual newsletters, funding updates, annual benefit statements (for active and deferred members, where provided) and payslips, P60s and annual pension increase letters (for pensioners)

*There will be a few exceptions where OneView cannot provide quotes, such as BAE Systems Executive Pension Scheme members and members with complicated benefit histories. You should contact Aptia if you experience any problems in generating an online quote.

If you have registered for OneView, Aptia will let you know when any communications have been uploaded. If you would like to receive all of your communications by post you need to let Aptia know that you wish to opt-out of digital communications. You can contact Aptia online via the Contact Aptia Pensions website or you can call them using the details on the Contact Us page.

Paying Additional Voluntary Contributions

All active DB members are able to pay Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) to a separate pension arrangement with the Mercer Master Trust (MMT). If you wish to start, stop or change your AVCs please see the action you need to take below, depending on your employer:

AVCs and Level 100+ DC contributions

For most members, any Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) and the employer defined contribution (DC) contributions for Level 100+ members, are paid into the separate arrangement with the Mercer Master Trust (MMT) called the BAE Systems Additional Retirement Savings Plan.

Scottish Widows is the administrator for the MMT who manage your account from day-to-day. This includes processing your contributions, arranging investment fund switches and communicating with you on behalf of MMT Trustees. You can find more information on the Scottish Widows website.

If you have any queries please contact Scottish Widows using the details on the Contact Us page. For personalised information regarding your DC savings please visit Mercer Money. Once registered on Mercer Money you will be able to:

  • Monitor the value of your account and make changes to your investments
  • Update your Selected Retirement Age (the date you plan to retire)
  • Update your nomination of beneficiaries (note you need to complete separate forms for your DB pension and your DC savings)
  • See the possible impact of paying different levels of contributions, create illustrations of the savings you might build up and estimate how much you may need to live on in retirement

If you have not activated your Mercer Money account yet you can get started by downloading the Mercer Money mobile app or you can go to Mercer Money. Please refer to accessing your pension account for the first time or watch the short video ‘How to activate your Mercer Money account’ found on the Scottish Widows website.
