A proud partnership

This year the Red Arrows celebrates its Diamond Anniversary, marking 60 years of wowing crowds across the globe with its awe-inspiring displays.

BAE Systems are the proud sponsor of the Red Arrows display team for over 25 years, and we look forward to many future years of partnership with this iconic team.

The Diamond Nine

The Red Arrows were first formed in 1964, and flew the Gnat for the first 16 years of their showcase. The Gnat was an aircraft built by one of BAE Systems' predecessor companies, Folland Aviation.

From 1980, the Gnat was replaced by the Hawk T1, and has been the chosen aircraft for the Reds ever since.

The famous formation of nine red Hawks have performed to crowds of millions of people across the United States, throughout Europe and the Middle East and into Asia.

In its Diamond Anniversary year, the team will display at shows across the UK, mainland Europe and Canada, marking the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Thousands of people in attendance at airshows will be in for a treat, with some special additions to the routine to mark the anniversary.

Powered by Hawk

Every member of this year's Red Arrows team has learnt to fly a fast jet in a Hawk T2 aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force, joining a group of more than 25,000 pilots who have been brain-trained by Hawk's advanced airborne simulation.

Today, more than 650 Hawks continue to fly across the globe training pilots ready for the frontline of the air forces across the world.
