At BAE Systems, employees are driven by a commitment to push the boundaries of science and technology. From developing groundbreaking satellite instruments that explore the far reaches of space, to engineering advanced combat systems and solutions to defend the nation and protect those who protect us, every achievement is fueled by the ingenuity and hard work of remarkably talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals. But as they continue to innovate, the next generation of thinkers, dreamers, and problem-solvers must also be developed.
That’s why BAE Systems is proud to continue its longstanding support of FIRST® — For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology — a nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing students for the future through team-based robotics programs. For more than 25 years, BAE Systems has partnered with FIRST to offer grants and scholarships to students in the communities in which its employees live and work, providing hands-on mentorship from experts in the field, and sponsoring events that foster passion and build confidence in STEM pursuits.
This year, the company is once again returning as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2025 FIRST Championship. The event, held in Houston, Texas, brings together more than 50,000 students, coaches and supporters from across 58 nations to show off their hard work and compete for awards in the spirit of “Coopertition®”. Fifty-nine BAE Systems-sponsored teams will participate in the championship, representing 21 different states from across the country.
Guided by experienced volunteers, FIRST participants get hands-on opportunities to brainstorm, program, build and operate robots of their own design. Beyond gaining technical skills, students also learn how to effectively collaborate with their peers, think critically to solve problems, and adapt to challenges as they arise—preparing students not only for competitions but also to pursue higher education and future successful careers. Most importantly, FIRST promotes a safe, fun environment for students to cultivate their curiosity and excitement for STEM. The FIRST Championship is an unparalleled opportunity to showcase these benefits on a global stage. It affirms the belief that every student deserves the chance to enjoy the adventure of exploring STEM and discover their passion.
Someday soon, many of these students will be designing new technologies to revolutionize planes and submarines, building the next generation of spacecraft in cleanrooms, and trailblazing new innovations that will shape the future of the industry, the country, and the world. By fostering their growth, together with FIRST, BAE Systems is empowering a workforce that will ensure the nation remains a global leader in scientific discovery, innovation, and technology for years to come.
With over two decades of collaboration behind and a future filled with promise ahead, BAE Systems supports FIRST and the extraordinary students who bring its mission to life. BAE Systems’ many employee volunteers and mentors are equally excited to welcome this talented new generation into STEM careers. The 2025 FIRST Championship represents not just a competition but an inspiring glimpse into what’s possible when education, mentorship, and opportunity align.
