Exceptional. Driven. Impactful. These are words that could easily describe any one of the eight BAE Systems, Inc. engineers who were recognized for their professional accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, and math at the 38th annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) STEM Global Competitiveness Conference.
Gwen Moss, director of program management for BAE Systems’ FAST Labs™ R&D organization, delivered remarks at the Modern-Day Technology Leader Awards Ceremony about the impact the 2024 BEYA Award winners have made to our company’s mission and culture.
“At BAE Systems, our engineers drive our results. Our teams work on mission-critical capabilities that directly impact the warfighter. The advancements they enable and challenges they navigate protect those who protect us,” said Moss.
She continued, “Our engineers are intuitive problem solvers with resilient personalities. They come from a diverse set of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.”
BAE Systems proudly serves as a key sponsor of the conference, and shares BEYA’s mission to promote the achievements of our diverse workforce. Beyond their laudable individual professional contributions, these employees are blazing a path for future STEM leaders to see themselves reflected across all levels of our company and advancing our culture of inclusion and belonging.
The BEYA STEM Conference is hosted by Career Communications Group’s Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine. Award winners are selected by a peer review selection committee drawn from a diverse group of scientific and technical leaders from 15 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The conference brings together America’s brightest minds, including top industry, government, and education leaders, and outstanding minority STEM undergraduate and graduate students, for thought-provoking panel discussions on career and professional development, and leading-edge technology seminars.
BAE Systems is committed to creating an inclusive culture where our employees across the globe are welcomed, valued, and able to bring their full selves and best work to the forefront.
