The Royal Navy is operating in a faster, more unpredictable battlespace than ever before. Threats are longer range, more diverse, and constantly evolving. Staying ahead demands agility, continuous modernisation, and a partnership built on shared purpose.

RECODE is how we deliver that.

It brings together three interconnected strengths that keep the fleet ready and capable: responsive and expert at sea support, a Combat Management System designed for continuous evolution, and a collaborative contracting model that turns strategic intent into reality.

Keeping the Royal Navy at Sea

At the heart of RECODE a dedicated Combat Management System support team works around the clock to ensure ships stay operational, safe and ready for tasking, wherever they are in the world.

They bring deep naval engineering expertise, rapid problem solving and global reach, travelling thousands of miles when needed to deliver fixes, upgrades and continuity of service

Modernising the Combat Management System

RECODE is also modernising INTeACT, BAE Systems Combat Management System, for a fleet that must think and act at speed.

Built on open architecture and rooted in agile development principles, INTeACT enables continuous and rapid change. Software updates arrive frequently, integrating new sensors, weapons and information sources without pulling ships from operations. The system adapts to new missions, new threats, and new technologies, supporting decision making by fusing thousands of data points across thousands of miles.

A partnership built on relational contracting

RECODE is a new way of partnering in defence. Instead of rigid contractual boundaries, RECODE uses a relational contracting model that aligns goals, behaviours and outcomes between BAE Systems, the MOD Fleetwide Combat Management Systems and the Royal Navy.

Joint behaviours, measurable outcomes and continuous feedback from the front line ensure that capability evolves with real world needs. The result is faster delivery, higher availability, better value for money, and a stronger sovereign industrial base.
