The sell-out event took place on the evening of Wednesday 17th June at the Samlesbury site restaurant, The Bowland Centre. Nigel and his team dished up his famous Lancashire Lonk Lamb Hotpot and chatted with employees keen to meet the local celebrity chef. The evening also featured a charity raffle, book signing and photo opportunities.
Sarah Tinsley, Community Fundraiser for the Royal British Legion (RBL) said “The night was a real success. The food. The location. The people. Everyone just made this so easy to organise and a pleasure to be part of. I’d like to extend a huge thankyou to Nigel and his team, and the workers of BAE Systems who made the event so memorable. Every penny raised wil help us to continue providing direct welfare support to Service personnel, past and present and their families.”
Ian Wood, Site Director for Samlesbury site said “Events like this go a long way towards raising money for charity, strengthening our connections with local businesses and giving our employees a night to remember. I look forward to supporting many more initiatives with our partner charity, the Royal British Legion this year.”
The Royal British Legion is the 2013 / 2014 partner charity of choice for Warton and Samlesbury site. Through the Company Charity Scheme, ‘together’, employees are encouraged to support the work of charities, schools and not-for-profit organisations through donations and sponsorships, by sharing their time and expertise as volunteers and by supporting employee fundraising. Our employee fundraising and volunteering benefits charities and our business by helping us build good relationships with our communities and by contributing to employee development and job satisfaction.
