Hosted by RAF Cranwell, the young students were interested in gaining some hands on aircraft experience as part of their visit.
Fully kitted in their PPE equipment and raring to go, the youngsters spent the day taking part in team building exercises, with a guided tour of the maintenance facility and the Vulcan Bomber. They students took a close up look at the Hawk, later continuing with classroom activities where they worked together to find solutions to engineering problems, including bio-mimicry, as well as hands-on work of removing and installing flying controls on the trainer rigs.
Generating Genius was founded by distinguished education academic and social commentator Dr Tony Sewell in 2005. His vision was to work with high-achieving students from disadvantaged communities throughout their secondary school careers to help them acquire the skills they need to win places at top universities.
