A football tournament and family fun day hosted by our graduates in Barrow raised an impressive £2,300 for the Help for Heroes charity this month.
Football tournament kicks off in name of charity

Graduates from Maritime – Submarines arranged the event on 8th June 2013 which saw 232 employees from Barrow's shipyard make up 29 teams that went head-to-head in the annual charity football tournament.

The event was held at Hawcoat Park Sports and Social Club in Barrow where, alongside the football tournament, crowds turned out to enjoy a bouncy castle, tombola and a host of other games and refreshments in the name of charity.

BAE Systems graduate, Rob Stringer, coordinated the event. He said: “This year’s event was a real success thanks to the support of colleagues and the local community.

“We managed to raise an impressive £2,300 and I’d like to thank everyone who came to show their support and who donated so generously to the worthy cause.”
