Now in their tenth year, the National Apprenticeship Awards are a celebration of apprentices and employers involved in Apprenticeships across England.
The 2013 regional finalists have now been announced and once again our apprentices are in the mix.
Brad Hodgeson, who completed his apprenticeship in March this year, has been announced as a finalist in the Advanced Apprenticeship category. Currently working in Investment and Infrastructure Services, Brad is a Project Engineer based at our Warton site.
Brad said: ““I believe the profile of apprenticeships should be raised and promoted to all young people beginning their career. My apprenticeship placements have offered great exposure to the aerospace business and I’ve been given some fantastic opportunities to develop key skills which have proved transferable to my current role. I feel very privileged to have got this far in the competition and am looking forward to seeing what happens at the regional finals.”
Another finalist is Nichola Mitchell who has been shortlisted in the Apprentice Champion category. This category seeks strong advocates who demonstrate how they proactively promote apprenticeships as an excellent career route. Nichola is currently a Procurement Engineer working on the F-35 programme at our Samlesbury site.
Nicola said: “I’m really excited about being shortlisted for an award, it’s a great honour to get this far with so many good candidates. I believe apprenticeships are exciting and can be life-changing. My aim is to be a positive role model for potential apprentices and I use my passion, commitment and enthusiasm to actively promote apprenticeships across the country.”
We wish both Brad and Nichola good luck at the North-West regional finals which will be held on 11 September 2013 at 1 Angel Square in Manchester.
The National Apprentice Awards take place in November 2013.
