This year’s International Women's Day theme is #EmbraceEquity, and as we recognise our power to make a difference, we are focussing on celebrating women’s achievements. We want to showcase how BAE Systems has developed a working environment where everyone belongs.
How are we honouring International Women’s Day at BAE Systems?
We’re all responsible for creating an environment where we’re free to be ourselves and give our best. That means removing barriers, calling out inappropriate behaviours and making everyone feel welcome. Creating equal opportunities isn’t always about treating everyone the same - we recognise that some colleagues need more support than others to help them be their best.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, our Group HR Director, Tania Gandamihardja, hosts our latest video along with a panel of three inspiring female colleagues who are all at different stages of their careers. Having had different experiences, they share their own thoughts on what each has done to be successful at work, as individuals, and as women.
Whether you’re an experienced professional or just stepping out into the world of work, we’ve a wide range of career opportunities available. Whether it's engineering or technology, project management or manufacturing, you'll be helping our customers protect what really matters.
We're all doing vital work here that impacts the world. But we want to make sure you can balance life at work and life at home. As well as generous annual leave, we offer 52 weeks' maternity leave, with the option of returning to work on reduced hours for the first 13 weeks, as well as a competitive range of family leave benefits like paternity, adoption, parental and dependents leave.
As the world has evolved, so has the way we work. We offer different types of hybrid working arrangements depending on your role and your location. You'll be trusted and empowered to determine a working pattern that works for you, your team, and our customers.
And as a global business you'll benefit from the opportunities that brings. Many of our roles offer the chance to move to different locations in the UK and around the world. So as we evolve, you can too.
We want to change the world we live in for the better – and that starts with our workplace. Our Gender Equity Network (GEN) is for all employees who believe everyone should have the opportunity and support to succeed in their career, regardless of gender. It's a forum for discussion and change – with the ultimate goal that the Network is no longer needed because gender barriers and biases will have been broken down in the workplace.
