This June, BAE Systems Intelligence & Security (I&S) sector will be recognized at the 2013 Veteran Entrepreneur Training Symposium (VETS) for going above and beyond to make its acquisitions process-friendly for veteran owned businesses and taking significant actions to increase contracting or subcontracting opportunities with these same companies.

The VETS, hosted by the National Veteran Small Business Coalition (NVSBC), will recognize Champions of Veteran Enterprise: Federal agencies and prime contractors that met or exceeded the mandated goal of providing opportunities to Veteran-Owned and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small businesses (VOSB/SDVOSBs). In fiscal year 2012, 15.5% of all I&S contract awards were given to veteran-owned small business and 4.2% to service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses. Both numbers surpass the target set by the NVSBC.

“We take pride in supporting critical national security missions that protect our country and those who serve,” said DeEtte Gray, president of BAE Systems’ Intelligence and Security sector. “Our nation’s veterans have sacrificed so much to ensure our freedom and we are honored to partner with them.”

“We are fortunate to have this opportunity to recognize the organizations and leaders responsible for awarding significant contracts to the Veteran small business community. Leading by example, BAE Systems Intelligence and Security sector has not only met, but exceeded the 3% government mandate. The Awards Luncheon is our way of saying “Thank You!” for their support of our Veteran entrepreneurs,” says Scott Denniston, Executive Director of the NVSBC.

VETS2013 will be held on June 11 in Reno, Nevada. It assembles more than 300 stakeholders to discuss how to take full advantage of federally mandated contracting opportunities specifically for Veteran-owned small businesses. The event includes representatives from the Veteran small business community, Federal agencies, and prime contractors who exchange knowledge and business opportunities in the classroom, the exhibit hall, and in one-on-one business sessions.
