When I first joined the company, I completed work experience, and from there, I secured a role in the Production Control and Logistics team. I then moved into the Supply Chain team where I worked with our UK customers as well as our international customers.
These roles gave me a lot of transferable skills and I have met so many great people.
Then around four years ago, I put myself forward for a secondment at RAF Leeming. When the secondment came up, I felt it was a great opportunity to get that experience of seeing a contract from the start. It was new for me and gave me my first experience on an RAF base. It was great to see the physical parts moving, as well as seeing the aircraft every day.
I felt like joining FCAS was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and our work would be setting the path for future generations.
I was initially nervous leaving Supply Chain, as I had no experience of Project Management and I was really settled and enjoying my work, but I knew it was the right time to stretch out of my comfort zone and the development that’s offered by the company is fantastic. I’ve done a lot of training and certifications and I’ve completed and passed project management exams. I’m now considering a degree.
I feel we have an opportunity to make a real difference and develop new ways of working that teams could use across the whole of the company. If you’ve got the ambition, the opportunities here are endless.
I enjoy being at the start of something fast paced with FCAS. You do spend time finding your feet, as a lot of what we’re doing has not been done before. There’s a lot of discovery but the support is there for each other, as everyone has a shared end goal.Abi, Lead Business Change Professional
