At BAE Systems, sustainability, responsibility and care for our people and communities shape how we work every day. From how we design technology to how we support one another, it’s all part of helping protect what matters most.

At BAE Systems, our responsibilities towards our people, communities and the environment shapes how we work. Our commitment to sustainability and responsible working practices is woven into everyday decisions; including how we design our technology and products, how we use materials and resources and how we support our people and communities. It’s part of how we help protect what matters most - including one another.

When you’re considering your next step, you’re looking for more than a job. You want a place where you feel supported, respected and able to contribute to purposeful work that genuinely makes a difference.

You’ll be supported to grow, not just employed

Wherever you are in your career journey - exploring new skills, returning to STEM, developing your expertise or stepping into new responsibilities - you’ll find the support you need to grow professionally and personally and plenty of opportunities to learn.

Did you know about ForcesNet? If you’re considering your next move after the armed forces, you’ll have access to our employee-led group with over 2,400 ex-forces personnel, 160 reservists, around 100 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) and their colleague allies. It offers camaraderie, mentoring and coaching for armed forces leavers as you transition into a new career at BAE Systems. Many veterans describe joining BAE Systems as feeling like they're "coming home".

If you’re weighing up employers and learning is your priority, you’ll be encouraged to know that since 2020, we’ve invested more than £1bn in skills and education, with more than 10,000 apprentices, graduates and undergraduates joining our global teams. This investment in you includes funded learning, personalised development plans, guidance from colleagues and clear ways to grow your confidence and capability.

We recognise that growth isn’t only about new roles and skills. It’s also about feeling that you belong. When you join us, you’ll also have access to mental health support, flexible working approaches and employee communities that help you feel connected and understood, wherever you’re based in the world. We want our people to feel safe, encouraged and valued for what they bring and as a result, able to do their best work.

You’ll see the positive difference your work creates

Working across global defence, aerospace and security means contributing to work with purpose. In over 40 countries, teams collaborate across engineering, technology and project roles to help protect people and support long‑term security.

Your impact also reaches into the communities around us. In 2025, we contributed over £12.2m to charities and not‑for‑profit organisations worldwide, invested over £5.8m to inspire young people into STEM, and colleagues volunteered more than 36,000 hours supporting local causes.

If contributing to something meaningful matters to you, you’ll find many ways to do that here.

You’ll help shape a more responsible future

People joining us, especially those in engineering, digital and project roles, often tell us they want to work somewhere that takes its environmental responsibilities seriously. We agree.

Across our global operations, we’re working to lessen our environmental footprint and design technology with tomorrow firmly in mind. Since 2020, we’ve reduced our absolute operational carbon emissions by 35%, including an 8.9% reduction in 2025. Around 50% of the electricity supporting our UK operations now comes from renewable sources, with similar improvements progressing internationally.

Our aim is to reduce operational emissions by 44% by 2030, supported by energy‑efficient facilities, thoughtful design choices and close collaboration with our suppliers.
