Our work environment
We are committed to progressing a working environment that is inclusive and diverse, where all employees feel valued, respected, accepted and encouraged to fully participate and achieve their best. We have a number of programs that proactively support our strategic goals in this area.
Annual awards
Each year we acknowledge the exceptional ideas and achievements of our employees and industry partners and customers who have developed outstanding new and innovative ways to shape BAE Systems and contribute towards our global success.
Trades awards
The Apprentice, Tradesperson & Team Leader Awards Scheme — also known as the Trade Awards — is a recognition program designed to promote and celebrate excellence among our trades workforce.
Nominations for these awards generally take place in June each year and will be communicated through our Toolbox Talks and other channels around this time.
Performance recognition
Our employees are also recognised for their dedication and achievements that have directly helped us achieve our business objectives, positively contributed to the success of a project or an event or catalysed organisation improvements.
For our Employee Spotlight Awards, any employee can nominate a colleague or a team of up to 10 people. Successful nominees are then also considered for our Quarterly Outstanding Achievement Awards.
There are three categories under which individuals or teams can be recognised: living our company behaviours; delivering for our customer; and putting safety first.
Contact your line leader or local People Business Partner to find out more about how to nominate a colleague or team for a recognition award.
Service recognition
We formally acknowledge our employees for their contribution by awarding a service recognition award upon reaching service anniversaries.
Embracing diversity
A diverse workforce inspires creativity and drives innovation. We respect and value the variety of skills, abilities and perspectives that our people bring to our business.
We celebrate our differences and aim to recruit and develop talent from all backgrounds, championing the strength that a truly inclusive and collaborative workplace gives to our company culture and performance.
We want all our people to feel like they matter and add value at work. We want to genuinely seek out diverse inputs and opinions, be role models of inclusive behaviour and have the support and courage to challenge when it does not occur.
We are committed to achieving gender balance. We belong to the WORK180 network as an endorsed employer for women. Our commitment to helping women thrive in the workplace is supported by our family flexible benefits.
