Welcome to a place you belong.

BAE Systems Australia is an inclusive organisation, where we bring together people with diverse skills, ways of thinking and backgrounds - who feel safe to be themselves, contribute to our success and thrive in fulfilling careers.

Our strategic priorities focus on creating an even more inclusive workplace. Through our organisational values, developing an inclusive work environment helps us enhance employee engagement and accelerate our performance, whilst also pushing boundaries to develop new, innovative ways to support the various needs of our customers and the communities in which we serve.

Our priorities

All of our people have an active role to play in helping to create and maintain an inclusive work environment.

We have dedicated teams who focus on embedding inclusion into our cultural DNA and business as usual practice. As part of this, we have identified several key areas of focus that underpin our strategy.

We have several employee resource groups which are voluntary and employee-led. Each has a specific focus but a common aim to connect and share the voices, perspectives and experiences of our people.

First Nations peoples

We aim to maintain respectful and sustainable relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We develop meaningful reconciliation outcomes through employment, procurement, and community consultation opportunities.

Our current reconciliation action plan details our aspirations to support First Nations peoples, businesses, and communities.

Gender

Our aim is to create better gender balance across our organisation. We currently employ about 18,000 women globally — equivalent to 22% of our total workforce — but our goal is to attract many more women to join us at all levels of our organisation, and across all parts of our business.

Veterans

We are proud of those who have served our country and are grateful for their sacrifice. We are committed to supporting the health, employment and rehabilitation of Australia’s veterans, service personnel and their families.

We actively hire veterans for the wealth of knowledge, experience and skills they bring to all areas of our business. They are uniquely placed to help us better understand the needs of our customers.

Sexual and Gender Diversity

It’s important our workplace is inclusive; enabling our people to bring their whole selves to work.

We value our LGBTQIA+ employees and strive to create a safe work environment. Our people have created a number of employee resource groups – including Outlink.

Outlink plays a crucial role in raising awareness of and advocating for issues specifically facing LGBTQIA+ people.

Our Employee Resource Groups

Our ERGs bring people together, creating a supportive and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. Led by colleagues, they offer community, networking, and a voice to shape our culture. Whether you want to connect, grow, or drive change, our ERGs are here to support and empower you.

Supporting Gender & Sexual diversity

Employee-led Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning and Other (LGBTQ+) group. Works to create an environment that is open and inclusive and provides support to people who may be experiencing issues with sexual orientation or gender identity, as well as their allies.

Supporting Cultural and Ethnic Diversity

An employee-led initiative that supports cultural and ethnic diversity. Acts as a forum for discussion and change where the benefits of cultural diversity are promoted, embraced, and realised.

Supporting our Disabled Community

Support for employees with visible and non-visible disabilities, those who care for someone with a disability, and non-disabled allies. Promotes disability equality and works closely with senior leadership to make sure our working environment is accessible for all.

Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing

Brings together colleagues and sponsors to raise awareness of mental health and create a culture of openness and conversation. It also provides a community of support and resources for all colleagues to focus on their mental wellbeing.

Supporting Gender Equality

The Gender Equity Network (GEN) is for all employees who believe everyone should be given the opportunity and support to succeed in their career, regardless of gender. The ultimate goal is to no longer be needed because gender barriers and biases will have been broken down in the workplace.

Supporting our Military Community

A network for veterans, reservists, and their supporters. It's a community to share and learn from each other and access support and mentoring. Focused on making BAE Systems a natural next step and home for veterans, while supporting their transition to civilian life.
