What qualifications are required to be a fabricator?

If you’re passionate about fabrication, we’re offering exciting opportunities for growth, training, and development. You could be working on the fit, refit and maintenance of a range of products across air, sea and land that protect national security.

If you’re interested in a fabricator position at BAE Systems, we’re looking for knowledge and experience in fabrication and familiarity with various techniques and equipment.

For each one these key positions, there are some skills and experience that are important to all experienced professional roles:

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship is often required. You’ll need to provide relevant trade papers
  • Clear understanding of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) risks
  • Ability to work in confined spaces or at height
  • Experience in a major construction or manufacturing environment

Those interested in taking up an early careers position, such as an apprenticeship, will not be required to have the above skills and experience. Full training will be provided from leading industry experts.
