Following the loss of Indonesian submarine KRI Nanggala (402) in April 2021, we made a donation to We Remember Submariners, a UK based charity which was coordinating a fundraising effort to support the families of the 53 crew who were on board.

During a visit to Indonesia as part of the UK’s Carrier Strike Group deployment, the crew of HMS Richmond presented a representative of the families of the submariners with the money that had been raised by the charity.

Being involved in the delivery of submarines for the UK Royal Navy, we recognise the huge risk and responsibility that submariners undertake on a daily basis and have the utmost respect for the contribution they make in keeping nations secure. This has been a difficult time for the families of KRI Nanggala and we are pleased to have been able to support the work that ‘We Remember Submariners’ has done to support them.
