I was initially drawn to BAE Systems because of its reputation as an industry leader and the scale of the organisation. Early in my career, the opportunity to be part of a business that offered such a wide range of experiences across different areas was really appealing. I was also particularly interested in the strength of the early careers programme, which combined real world experience with structured learning. It stood out as a practical and supportive way to begin building a long term career.
I joined through the Advanced Technician Apprenticeship, which gave me the opportunity to explore different areas of the business and develop both practical skills and technical knowledge. The variety of placements helped me build a broader understanding of how everything fits together, while company sponsored qualifications allowed me to continue developing alongside my role. Having that combination of experience, learning and clear direction from the outset made a real difference.
Since completing my apprenticeship, I’ve been supported to continue progressing and taking on new challenges. I’ve had the opportunity to work with emerging technologies and contribute to projects that have real scale and complexity. Experiences such as travelling internationally, including to Japan and Italy, have helped broaden my perspective and develop my confidence in working across different environments.

Continuous development has been a key part of my journey.
