Ahead of their return to Normandy we invited five D-Day and Normandy veterans to our site in Lancashire to have a look at present day and future military technology. Two of them, Jim and Richard, were kind enough to sit down and talk to us about their experiences of World War Two and their involvement in the D-Day operation.

We had a rough time, but I’ve got over it. I’m no hero, I just did what I had to do and that’s it… like everybody else.
Sergeant Richard Brock, 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment.

Hearing from the veterans

We’re honoured to be flying Jim, Richard and three other veterans out to Normandy to take part in the D-Day 80 national commemorations at the British Normandy Memorial on 6 June. They may not see themselves as heroes, but we do and we want to thank them and all those who served for providing us the freedoms we enjoy today.
