Supporting the armed forces
We focus on projects and organisations that support serving members of the armed forces and their families, as well as injured servicemen and women who need continued support.
In the UK, we contribute to the work of The Royal British Legion which supports current and former members of the armed forces and their dependants, and our employees get involved in the Poppy Appeal, which raises funds for the Legion’s work and highlights the contribution of the armed forces past and present. We also sponsor the British Forces Foundation which stages morale boosting concerts and events for servicemen and women and UK4U –a charity which gives Christmas gift boxes to UK forces serving away from home.
In the US, we support the United Service Organizations (USO) and work with partner organisations such as:
- Fisher House Foundation – to provide free accommodation for families of wounded veterans going through long rehabilitation and recovery efforts.
- Sesame Workshop – to help young military children and their families deal with tough and emotionally challenging issues such as the death of a loved one.
- Operation Homefront – to support the ‘Back-to-School Brigade’ that helps the children of military families prepare for their back-to-school needs.
What others think
“For more than 10 years, BAE Systems has been a stalwart supporter of troops and military families through its support of the USO. BAE Systems employees continue to play a critical role in helping the USO provide our services at more than 160 locations worldwide.
The USO has relied on BAE Systems’ counsel as we expanded programmes to support troops around the world. We’ve been especially fortunate to have BAE Systems representatives on the USO Board of Governors. Their active participation and advice helps ensure that the USO remains the nation’s go-to organisation for lifting the spirits of troops and their families wherever they serve.”
