We want to inspire people to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

Our work in defence and security relies on a pipeline of talented people with expert STEM skills. To enthuse the next generation of scientists and engineers, we invest in a range of STEM education programmes, beginning at age seven and engaging students throughout their time at school. We support people on paths into high quality jobs that help communities thrive.

Working with schools

We partner with educators at primary, secondary and college levels of education to carefully plan and deliver complementary support to STEM teaching in classrooms.

STEM in action

Every year we deliver thousands of work experience placements and engineering taster days for young people, giving unique insight into STEM careers in action. We offer industrial placements, internships and we sponsor PhD students through their studies.

Volunteering and mentoring

Many of our employees’ volunteer as STEM Ambassadors, working directly with schools and youth organisations. We support them with additional time from the Company to volunteer as we know that mentorship from inspirational role models can make a real difference to career choices and life pathways.
