In a move aimed at improving access to timely cardiac diagnosis, BAE Systems has donated advanced diagnostic equipment to the heart clinic at King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Taif, in partnership with Qalbi Charitable Society.

The equipment enables clinicians to assess heart function, evaluate valve conditions, and identify complications, hence allowing for faster, more informed medical decisions. This is particularly critical in emergency and intensive care settings, where speed and accuracy can significantly influence outcomes and ultimately save lives, all by bringing diagnostic capabilities closer to the patient. It is designed to expand access to specialised cardiac diagnostics and care at the primary or near‑point‑of‑care level, aiming to reach about 18,000 patients per year. The initiative seeks to close gaps in care and support, promoting more equitable access to treatment by increasing diagnostic capacity locally.

This comes at a time when the need is clear. Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death in Saudi Arabia, accounting for around 28 percent of all fatalities, according to recent national and international health reports . Thus, improving the speed and accessibility of diagnosis is crucial in addressing this challenge.

The initiative has been delivered in partnership with Qalbi Charitable Society, a non-profit organisation that focuses on providing life-saving cardiac care for both children and adults living with heart disease. It also underscores BAE Systems’ broader commitment to advancing national health priorities and building a healthier future for local communities.

BAE Systems’ contribution builds on more than 60 years of partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was founded on shared priorities, long-term collaboration, and sustained delivery. Over the decades, the company has contributed to developing national capabilities, supporting local industry, and investing in Saudi talent. This legacy continues to evolve today in line with Saudi Vision 2030, extending BAE Systems’ impact beyond defence into initiatives that deliver meaningful value to society.
