BvS10 Family of Vehicles

For nearly 50 years, BAE Systems has been the world leader in Arctic mobility, building 12,000 all-terrain vehicles and logging millions of miles in Arctic conditions. This unmatched experience has led to the BvS10 family of vehicles, which is specifically designed to provide total operational support where others cannot.

The vehicles in the BvS10 family, which consists of the armored BvS10 and the unarmored BvS10 Beowulf , are all capable of rapidly traversing terrain that would hinder other vehicles. They are even capable of amphibious operations. The variants within the BvS10 family have been developed in close cooperation with our customers to fulfill their specific mission requirements. All BvS10 variants are made with a focus on flexibility, allowing customers to tailor their fleets for specific missions. Overall, we have built over 40 variants of all-terrain vehicles.  So far, the armored BvS10 includes the following variants:

The armored BvS10 vehicles are built with protection against ballistics and anti-tank mines. This family of vehicles are also air transportable by CH-47, C-130, or similar aircraft. They are designed to easily integrate with a wide-range of weaponry, while maintaining additional flexibility to be equipped for future mission needs. While the BvS10 fleet is easy to maintain and easy to support, BAE Systems also provides additional support with training, maintenance, management and enhancement. The BvS10 is currently operated by the Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The unarmored BvS10 Beowulf bolsters the BvS10 family’s mission flexibility. This amphibious vehicle is based on the battle-proven technology that underpins the fleets of BvS10 vehicles in service across the world and builds on the nearly 50 years of arctic and all-terrain mobility experience at BAE Systems. The BvS10 family boasts 80% parts commonality between its armored and unarmored variants, including all major assemblies, meaning a mixed fleet of armored and unarmored BvS10 vehicles is easy to maintain and reduces logistical burdens.

In August 2022, the US Army selected BAE Systems to produce the Cold Weather All-Terrain Vehicle. Under the program, the Army will receive BvS10 Beowulf’s, marking BAE Systems’ first international sale of the vehicle.

Like all BvS10 vehicles, the Beowulf is designed for all-terrains: from deep snow to flood waters to swampy terrain. Similar to its armored counterpart, Beowulf variants are designed in close coordination with the customer to ensure its mission requirements are being fulfilled. Additionally, the Beowulf is air transportable by a CH-47 and C-130, or similar aircraft. 

Whether the mission is to transport equipment or serve as an ambulance, this vehicle can get there. The Beowulf is also the ideal platform for non-military applications, Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief, firefighting and rescue operations due to its built-in flexibility. This vehicle understands that when users have a mission, they must be able to get there.
