We’re committed to a culture of learning and development at all career and life stages.
Attracting, retaining and growing people with exceptional skills is critical for our business to deliver the next generation of defence and security capabilities. To achieve this, we provide development opportunities to suit the requirements of different roles and learning styles.
Across our global business, we also work with customers, partners and suppliers to help build critical skills in the broader defence and security community. In Australia for example, we're sharing best practice from our UK early careers programmes to help develop local capability for ship and submarine building.
Early careers
Our award-winning early careers programmes help new joiners build confidence and develop vital technical and behavioural skills. Our apprenticeship and graduate programmes equip employees to advance within our organisation in a supportive environment, creating a robust talent pipeline to support programme delivery.
Lifelong learning
We offer lifelong learning through dedicated skills academies, training centres, coaching, mentoring, secondments and virtual programmes. We also partner with our customer and supply chain community to facilitate exchange programmes, giving employees unique insights that benefit their development and the company more widely.
Digital skills
We’re preparing for the future by investing in digital skills. In 2024, we opened a Digital Skills Academy in the UK for employees at all levels, strengthening digital capabilities across the business. From cybersecurity to data analytics, we invest in training that equips our people to drive innovation and succeed in a fast-changing technological environment.
Specialist skills
We invest in developing both advanced technical knowledge and specialist leadership capabilities essential for driving future innovation. Our programmes enhance technical and functional expertise while nurturing the leadership skills needed to consistently deliver cutting-edge solutions to meet our customers' evolving requirements.
