BAE Systems’ FADEC solution will enable Southwest Airlines—now in its 40th year of service—to differentiate itself from other low-fare carriers by reducing costs and improving fleet availability and reliability.

“We are very pleased to have signed this agreement with Southwest Airlines, one of our long-term, valued customers,” said Dr. Ehtisham Siddiqui, vice president and general manager for BAE Systems’ commercial avionics business. “We are confident that our comprehensive FADEC overhaul solution, coupled with our world-class turnaround time, will provide superior value for Southwest Airlines.”

Backed by an extended warranty, BAE Systems’ FADEC overhaul solution provides airlines with significant improvements in dispatch reliability by offering the flexibility to obtain overhaul services during scheduled engine shop visits minimizing potential delays and cancellations for airlines and passengers. By providing proactive repairs, BAE Systems is helping airlines lower their overall maintenance costs and extend the serviceable life of the FADEC in the field.

“This agreement reinforces a long and positive partnership between Southwest Airlines and BAE Systems,” said Larry Mabry, purchasing manager for Southwest Airlines. “The services provided on the FADEC units will support Southwest Airlines in its continuing efforts to maintain an efficient and reliable operation.”
