Nominations for 2011 are now open and the public are being invited to nominate candidates for the different award categories. Prince Charles launched the awards and conceived of the categories which include ‘best unit’, ‘overcoming adversity’ and ‘support to the armed forces.’

The Millies are run by The Sun newspaper with the full support of the Ministry of Defence and the armed forces. With celebrity and royal patronage they have been highly successful in recognising the commitment of service personnel in the UK.

HRH The Prince of Wales said: "Now in its fourth year, The Sun's ‘Millies’ recognise those truly remarkable cases of determination, grit and good humour that abound in our Armed Forces, and those organisations and individuals who help them in everything they do."

As one of the major equipment suppliers to the UK’s armed forces, BAE Systems is committed to supporting the armed forces and their families through its Charity Challenge employee fundraising scheme, charitable donations and the sponsorship of events. The Company gives more than £1.5 million per year through these activities.

Nominations close on 12 September 2011 and the ceremony will be aired on ITV in the run up to Christmas. For more information or to make a nomination please view the feature article on The Sun Website.
