Armed Forces Week - Major Tom Crawford

The Gold Award is the highest national level award for employers who demonstrably advocate support to Reserves.

CEO Ian King, Chief Executive of BAE Systems collected the award from Prime Minister David Cameron at an event held at 10 Downing Street and said, 'I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of all the BAE Systems employees who are reservists and the many others who assist armed forces' personnel. Our Company is committed to supporting existing reservists and encouraging more employees to consider volunteering.'

We demonstrate our support in a number of ways. In September 2013, we became the first defence company to sign the UK Government Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. As part of that commitment, we enable employees who are also members of the reserve forces to complete their training requirements and provide support during mobilisation. We have also been recognised for the support we have given the MOD with their Future Reserves 2020 programme.

Most recently, we have shown we are Proud to Support through our annual Armed Forces Week, with employees across the UK taking part in a range of celebrations and fundraising activities for Armed Forces charities. We encouraged our reservists to take part in Uniform to Work Day and sponsored the National Armed Forces Day event in Stirling on 28 June.
