The Malaysia Cyber Security Awards were created to honour individuals and organisations who contribute to Malaysia's cyber security or information security standards.
BAE Systems Applied Intelligence received the award in recognition of a number of factors including its degree of innovation, the impact of that innovation on the industry, its financial success, client wins and value enhancement, as well as its commitment to and investment in R&D.
The Chairman of CyberSecurity Malaysia, General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohammed (Retired) said:
“Today’s award is an indication of the tireless dedication of the team at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence in raising the bar of the cyber security industry. Cyber security has become an increasingly complex ecosystem; it requires all parties, including government regulators, operators, vendors and even individual users to manage and help reduce the threat from cyber criminals. On behalf of CyberSecurity Malaysia, we look forward to strengthening our collaboration and working in tandem with BAE Systems Applied Intelligence to combat the increasing cyber threats in Malaysia.”
Mark Womble, Asia Director, BAE Systems Applied Intelligence said:
“BAE Systems Applied Intelligence is deeply honoured to receive such a prestigious award from CyberSecurity Malaysia. As a leading cyber security and digital criminality services provider in Malaysia, we are focused on transferring our global capabilities in the most advanced cyber threat detection and response and business transformation capabilities to clients in Malaysia.
“Set against the context of an increasing cyber threat, BAE Systems has become a partner of choice for Malaysian clients. We are dedicated to the development of the Malaysian economy through innovative and mutually-beneficial technology-led partnerships to empower the local cyber security ecosystem – including business, customers and academia.”
BAE Systems Applied Intelligence has developed a significant footprint in the national cyber security sector, through collaboration with government agencies such as CyberSecurity Malaysia with which it signed a strategic MOU in March 2014. The company has a strong focus on both the financial services sector – with anti-money laundering and compliance customers in Malaysia’s major banks - and the telecommunications sector.
The MSC-status company has also invested heavily in Malaysia by setting up its Global Delivery Centre (GDC) in Menara Binjai, Kuala Lumpur. The company’s long-term plan to recruit and train over 350 highly skilled cyber specialists by 2015 further demonstrates its commitment to local ICT and the cyber security ecosystem.
Mr Wan Roshaimi Wan Abdullah, Managing Consultant at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, added:
“BAE Systems is forward thinking in the area of cyber security. There is still a long way to go to raise awareness about cyber security and critical infrastructure protection issues. However, with the Government's proactive focus on policy and capability development, we will hope to continue to strengthen collaboration with a number of key institutions and clients.”
