
Michelle Murphy is senior vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer for BAE Systems, Inc., the company’s U.S.-based, international defense, aerospace, and security company that generated 2022 sales of nearly $12.6 billion and employs approximately 35,000 people around the world, with major operations in the United States, United Kingdom, and Sweden.
In this role, Murphy is responsible for all human resources, safety, health and environmental, and employment-related activities for the U.S.-based company, which provides a broad range of products and services to a diverse, international customer base across air, land, maritime, and cyber domains.
Murphy has more than 25 years of experience in human resources with an extensive background in the aerospace and defense industry. Before joining BAE Systems in 2012, she spent more than 15 years with Northrop Grumman, where she last served as the corporate director of Executive Compensation and Human Resources after holding positions leading human resources activities for domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, and overseeing human resources and administration teams for several of the company’s business sectors. Previously, she was a human resources leader at Science Applications International Corporation.
Murphy earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and she is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
