Since the first show in 2019, it's clear to see the growth of DSEI Japan as a leading local and regional Defence exhibition. This year's show, held 15 to 17 March, was another fantastic opportunity for the global team at BAE Systems to demonstrate to the market the breadth of our platforms and capabilities, and how we help our customers to defend their nations, from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.

At our stand, we featured products and BAE Systems representatives focused on next-generation air superiority, electronic systems, advanced cyber and space capabilities, warship design and digital construction, advanced precision munitions, and naval guns.  We were pleased with the interest shown in all of these.
We've had a presence in Japan for more than 25 years, working with partners such as Japan Steel Works, which manufactures the Mk.45 naval gun under license, providing advanced technology and capabilities across military domains to the Japanese Self Defense Forces. More recently, we've been involved in the Global Combat Air Programme, alongside Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Leonardo and our other partners. The programme is an international collaboration between the UK, Japan and Italy that will see the three nations work together to design, develop and produce a next generation combat air capability.
During this year's exhibition we were delighted to greet scores of customers, partners, industry peers and media on our stand, keeping our team busy right until the end of the week. We had many productive discussions with Japanese government and industry counterparts, both within and outside the show.  It was also great to see the Global Combat Air Programme stand, representing the three partner nations, UK, Japan and Italy, and each of the companies from those nations we're currently working with to help to deliver a next generation combat air capability.

What was evident throughout the show is Japan's sustained focus and investment in its defence capabilities and industry, and we're looking forward to developing further our existing partnerships, and building new ones, to support them in protecting their people and national security.
