Brontanax®

Business Air
Location United Kingdom
Brontanax® is the UK's first British-designed uncrewed autonomous Collaborative Combat Aircraft. It provides a new layer of frontline capability, built to fly with crewed aircraft and add mass at lower cost.
Brontanax™ aircraft airborne

Overview

Extending combat mass. Multiplying effect. Keeping crews out of harm's way.

Armed forces are being asked to meet growing demands of speed, adaptability and scale. Brontanax responds to that reality. It's designed to sit within a full force mix, adding affordable and flexible mass where it's needed most.

aircraft characteristics

Scale

Similar in size to our Hawk aircraft

Open architecture

An open, modular design means we can adapt Brontanax as threats change, so it stays relevant and useful over years of service.

Autonomy

The aircraft builds on more than 25 years of our experience in uncrewed and autonomous systems.

Delivered through FalconWorks

Designed and delivered through FalconWorks, our advanced research and development centre, as part of a wider family of uncrewed systems.

Crewed–Uncrewed teaming

A Typhoon pilot or mission commander can operate Brontanax from range, letting crewed and uncrewed aircraft work as one team.

Key Features

  • Force multiplication. Brontanax flies with frontline aircraft such as Typhoon, adding combat mass and effect.
  • Electronic effect and strike. It's built to deliver electronic effects and to strike targets in the air and on the ground.
  • Lower-cost mass. It gives operators the ability to generate greater effect across a mission without matching the cost of additional crewed platforms.
  • Reduced risk to crews. By extending reach from range, Brontanax helps keep pilots out of harm's way.
