Helping your work-life balance

Maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption leave

Some moments in life are incredibly important. Welcoming a new child – or children – into your family is one of them. That’s why we offer 26 weeks company maternity, shared parental and adoption pay to give you time off after a child is born or placed with your family.

We also offer enhanced paternity pay providing you with four weeks paid leave, instead of the statutory two weeks, to help you support your family.

Neonatal care leave

To support parents whose babies need hospital care during their first few weeks of life, we offer up to 12 weeks paid neonatal care leave.

Carer's leave

We recognise that it can be difficult to juggle managing caring responsibilities alongside your day job.

That’s why we offer one week of paid carer’s leave in a rolling 12 month period, designed to help you arrange or provide care for a dependant with a long-term care need, such as sick, elderly or disabled relatives, or partners.

Hybrid and flexible working

Hybrid working - where you work.

BAE Systems operates hybrid working for a number of its roles. Hybrid working is a more flexible approach to work and means colleagues can split their working hours between their contractual BAE Systems site location, another BAE Systems site, a customer location or their UK home. It’s expected that the time spent on site is agreed with line leaders and that this may flex up, or flex down, dependant on the changing demands of the business, customer or team needs.

Due to the nature of the work we undertake there are clear guidelines in place for ensuring that all work, irrespective of location, is undertaken in a safe, secure and responsible manner and complies with regulatory requirements.

Flexible working - when you work.

We know everyone’s different, so if flexible working is something you’d like to explore, we’ll do our best to help you achieve a great work-life balance while building your career.
