During the event, students met with colleagues from BAE Systems Saudi Arabia and learned more about life within the company and the defence sector as a female engineer, the women’s empowerment committee Mulhemah, and some of the career options available to them during their academic studies and post-graduation. Attendees we’re also given practical support with resume building and interview preparation techniques.

Aroub Baajajah, Senior Project Engineer and Member of Mulhemah committee who presented at the event on ‘Successful female engineers’ said: “It was a pleasure to meet so many students at this event and represent BAE Systems Saudi Arabia. The engineering industry is very broad and there are so many opportunities available, but we do recognise the importance of visible role models and that we’re still on a journey to make our great female engineers more visibility across the organisation so that our female talent can  envisage themselves in leadership positions in the future. This event, and others like it throughout the year, is designed to help students understand the opportunities available to them and achieve their potential”.

BAE Systems has been present in the Kingdom under this relationship for more than 55 years, supporting the UK and helping Saudi Arabia to meet its security needs while continuing to develop its sovereign defence industry. Together with its Kingdom Partner Companies, the business is committed to empowering women in the workforce, supporting the Kingdom’s aim through Vision 2030 for women to account for 30% of the country’s workforce.
