Energy solutions and services

SEA-CORES has been trialled on board HMS Dragon
BAE Systems is committed to driving up energy efficiency for our customer by developing a suite of cost-effective solutions capable of meeting demanding financial and environmental targets.
As a major manufacturer, our operations have a significant impact on the environment through the energy and resources we use. The company’s aim is to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and products by using energy, waste and water more efficiently. We are also helping our customers do the same.
BAE Systems is also using other methods of conserving energy use to increase its efficiency. The company has completed a large scale installation of solar panels at Portsmouth Naval Base to increase energy efficiency and financial savings. Installing the new 500 kilowatt system is expected to generate energy savings worth more than £1million over the next two decades.
A further range of energy and cost-saving measures have already been implemented at the Naval Base such as the installation of LED lighting in offices, LED street lighting, air-source heat pumps and intelligent control systems.

Increasing energy efficiency, however, is not solely related to infrastructure. Developing energy efficient solutions for the Royal Navy’s UK and global deployments forms a significant role in BAE Systems’ cost-effective energy strategy.
Our environmental solutions for energy management systems, infrastructure and the maintenance of warships and commercial vessels are ensuring the company continues to tackle the financial and ecological challenges in the defence sector into the future.
We are leading the way in developing energy efficient innovations, working in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy to provide energy services that will save time and money, as well as improving the availability of naval ships.
