Global Carbon Footprint 2019
The BAE Systems Global Greenhouse Gas Footprint in 2019 (Location Based) has been calculated as 1.103 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This is a 5% decrease on the 2018 figure of 1.158 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Despite the differences at group level, variations can be more significant at larger sites depending on site rationalisation projects or changes in the level of production activity.
The greenhouse gas emissions data is in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (revised version) ‘Operational Control’ method, and emission factors for fuels and electricity are taken from the UK government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), published at https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/government-conversion-factors-for-company-reporting
The 2019 Global Greenhouse Gas Footprint has been generated by a third party consultancy, who have also reviewed and updated the methodology.
We have been producing a Global Greenhouse Gas Footprint since 2008, but the associated methodology and level of completeness have also changed over that period. The last four years’ worth of GHG data have been compiled with a consistent methodology.
The graph below shows the GHG trend over the last six years organised by region. All regions have shown a decrease from 2018 to 2019, except for the Rest of World and Australia whose emissions have increased slightly.
