Global Carbon Footprint 2017

 
The BAE Systems Global Greenhouse Gas Footprint in 2017 has been calculated as 1.200 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This is an 8% decrease on the 2016 figure of 1.298 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Despite the differences at group level, variations can be more significant at larger sites depending on site rationalisation projects or changes in the level of production activity. 

The greenhouse gas emissions data is in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (revised version)‘Operational Control’ method, and emission factors for fuels and electricity are taken from the UK government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), published at https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/government-conversion-factors-for-company-reporting
 
The 2017 Global Greenhouse Gas Footprint and methodology has been third party assured.
 
We have been producing a Global Greenhouse Gas Footprint since 2008, but the associated methodology and level of completeness have also changed over that period.  The information in this section shows the last three years’ worth of GHG data, which were compiled with a consistent methodology.
 
The graph below shows the GHG trend over the last three years organised by region.  All regions have shown a decrease, except for the Rest of World whose emissions totals have remained fairly static.
