Bradley Smith, Apprentice of the Year

21 year old Bradley Smith from BAE Systems Land UK business has been awarded the prestigious BAE Systems Apprentice of the Year award as well as Craft Electrical Apprentice of the Year. 

Commenting on winning the award, Bradley said “It feels amazing to have won this award. I'm really proud of myself, for my family, friends and the whole of Land UK. It's such a great achievement.'

Joanne Sharples, awarded Higher Apprentice of the Year at the SEMTA Skills Awards 2016


Joanne Sharples is a Project Control Foundation Scheme apprentice from BAE Systems' Military Air and Information business who was named Higher Apprentice of the Year at this years' SEMTA awards.

When talking about apprenticeships, Joanne said: "When I was choosing what I wanted to do in my career, I never considered working for an engineering bsuiness as a route for me but it was one of my teachers who drove me to look in to it. 

"More than half of the apprentices who complete the PCFS do so with a first-class honours degree and experience working on some really interesting programmes.

"I would urge people to look at what the engineering industry can give you as a career, I did and I never looked back."

Katie Shepherd, Engineering Technical Apprentice 


20 year-old Katie Shepherd is in the third year of a four-year apprenticeship scheme at BAE Systems' Maritime Naval Ships business.

When asked about apprenticeships Katie said "My apprenticeship provides me with the opportunity to earn money while I get qualified and also offers a secure career plan after I have completed my training. Both of these things act as great incentives to work to the best of my ability."

 

Matthew Tetlow, Software Apprentice


18 year-old Matthew Tetlow joined joined BAE Systems' Military Air and Information business in September. Matthew joined as part of the first cohort on the new engineering degree appreniceship scheme (EDAS), part of the government's new Trailblazer standards announced in early 2015.
