Thinking about apprenticeship options but not sure which path to take? Need to support your students or children in navigating their early career options? Our open evenings are a fantastic opportunity to find out everything you need to know before making an application to our apprenticeship programmes for 2023.
During our events, you'll have a chance to meet some of our current apprentices, as they share more about their experience on their apprenticeships. With representatives from across all levels of scheme, attendees will gain insight into the fantastic opportunities open to those who join an apprentice programmes at BAE Systems.

Choose the right apprenticeship for you
Intermediate apprenticeships
Intermediate apprenticeships are the entry-level apprenticeship for those looking to make a start in the world of work. Available to anyone from the age of 16, with no maximum age limit, they’re also a great option for anyone looking to make a career change. You’ll need five GCSEs grade A*-E/ 3-9 including Maths and English, as well as a Science subject to apply for an engineering or technical role, or two National 4s including Maths and English (or equivalent).
Become a technical expert and learn a specialist skill such as welding, painting, or scaffolding, with a blend of hands-on training and classroom learning. An intermediate apprenticeship is a great way to join our business, with real responsibility working on innovative security products and services.
Advanced apprenticeships
You can apply for one of our advanced apprenticeships if you have five GCSEs or National 4 (or equivalent), including Maths and English, as well as a Science subject to apply for an engineering or technical role, or you’ve completed an intermediate apprenticeship or similar Level 2 qualification. They’re full time roles, with a competitive salary and they’re a great way to develop specialist skills.
We have a range of advanced apprenticeships available, including engineering, technical, and business roles. At the end of the apprenticeship you’ll have valuable qualifications equivalent to A Levels, NC, HNC, or HND. With the freedom to explore our business, endless opportunities for development, and with genuine recognition and reward, you’ll build a career to be proud of.
Higher apprenticeships
Higher apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 18 who is looking for an alternative to attending university. You’ll need at least five GCSEs or National 5 + Highers (or equivalent) including Maths and English, as well as a Science subject to apply for an engineering or technical role. Additionally, you’ll require a minimum of two A levels or a level 3 equivalent qualification.
With the chance to forge a high-impact career in engineering, business, or finance, these roles lead to qualifications equivalent to a HND or Foundation Degree.
