Richard Checkley

Richard is Director of C5ISR at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, leading the business’s digital capabilities in the command, control, computers, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance space. Prior to his appointment, Richard was Defence Information Director; and he continues to deliver business and mission critical, highly secure and assured information systems and services across the group and direct to external customers.

Richard has previously held a number of senior positions in the company’s Defence Information business, including Falcon Programme Director, delivering the secure deployable broadband voice, data and video communications system into service for the British Army and Royal Air Force. Prior to this, Richard worked in the F35 Lightning II business in a broad range of leadership roles, working collaboratively with Lockheed Martin, Northop Grumman and the US Customer.

Richard holds bachelor's and master's degrees in manufacturing and engineering from Coventry University and Warwick University. As a graduate engineer, Richard worked in a number of roles innovating and implementing new engineering and business capabilities for a range of Military Aircraft projects including Nimrod, Typhoon and the F-35 Lighting II programme.

Richard currently sits on the main board of techUK and is Chairman of International Systems Engineering, a BAE Systems partner company providing IT solutions and services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
