Our Glascoed base sits amidst rolling hills of Monmouthshire, between Pontypool and the market town of Usk. With the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons on its doorstep it’s a perfect spot for making the most of the great outdoors. You’ll be in good historical company too, as this is the area where King Arthur ruled, Romans bathed, Normans set up home and pilgrims came to worship.
As well as providing employment for around 500 people, largely from the local area, we promote our apprenticeships in local schools and encourage visits to our heritage centre, which tells the story of the site and those who have worked there.
Our office is situated just outside Glascoed village, providing a workplace that supports our culture, offering facilities to enable our people to deliver great work in a well-resourced and creative environment.
As a munitions site, a safe and healthy workplace is our first priority. In Glascoed we have a free gym, indoor five-a-side football pitch, squash boxes and a range of other fitness opportunities including hosted gym sessions and team runs around the local countryside.
We encourage employees to take their health seriously and have run a number of campaigns to increase activity levels, such as a Step Challenge offering free ‘FitBits’ alongside competitions for the highest number of steps.
You’ll also find excellent shopping and leisure amenities in nearby Pontypool and Newport, while picturesque Usk is full of independent shops, cafes and craft centres. Abergavenny is to the north for gastronomic treats and there’s no shortage of pubs across the nearby valleys and hills to reward hiking or riding adventures. Glascoed sits at the head of the large Llandegfedd Reservoir offering great sailing, windsurfing and fishing opportunities
The nearest train station is at Pontypool (3 miles), and Cardiff, Newport and Bristol are all within easy commutable distance.
